Miss Delacourt Guest Posts At Dunhaven Place

Posted by Heidi in

Heidi is taking the day off and has asked me to be a guest poster. Though I am happy to oblige, I daresay I wouldn’t know a guest poster from an ordinary one though, were I to venture a guess, I would suggest that the first is a four poster bed for the guest room. Am I close? Alas, I am mostly at a loss when I encounter these modern terms.

However, I have the best news! I’ve been tagged. Should one wonder (and rightly so) if tagging is such a thing of the present that I, a product of the early 19th century, couldn’t possibly comprehend it’s meaning and purpose, rest assured that in this I am in my element. I mean, really, pray tell, what is the difference between a tag and the litany of questions a young lady has for her beau prior to accepting his offer for her hand in marriage? The difference lies only in the questions and in the manner they are put forth.

Seeing as I am, in reality, a book, the questions I received to heretofore answer are, to say the least, a bit unique. They are as follows.

Books are shelved in libraries by category or subject. Name yours:

This one I can answer with ease. I am shelved under historical romance (naturally), Regency romance (a far better choice if you ask me), plain old Romances, Male-Female relationships, adult fiction, adult new books (a number of these are sounding a bit too warm for my taste but I shall endeavor to give them the benefit of my doubt) new fiction, and my personal favorite,
Robbers and Brigands.
How Many Of You Are In Stock At Amazon:

In spite of the fact that a gentlewoman who goes by the unusual sobriquet, Crash Test Dummy, has reported her purchase, there is currently still one available. I am assured more will be coming in soon. In addition, in spite of the fact that I’m not supposed to be “out” yet, I am amazingly available for immediate shipment at Barnesandnoble.com, (as well as Amazon) making me a splendid Christmas gift for those who are so minded.

In How Many Library Systems Are You Listed With Via Worldcat.org

At the time of this gentle inquest, I am at 97, including one in the city of Boonslick, the name of which is an endless source of amusement to me. It was Heidi’s ardent desire I reach 100 by Christmas but I daresay I will get there before Thanksgiving at the rate things are going, leaving me free to eat turkey with the rest of you American revelers. (And might I just add how glad am I? Climbing the Worldcat ladder is onerous work and I find I am feeling more than a little peckish.)

What Are People Saying About You?

Only good things, I hope! One can find my Publisher’s Weekly review here.

Sadly, one must scroll down quite a ways to avail oneself of my particular review but I feel it is worth the trouble.

There are no Amazon.com reviews as of yet. You could be the first by going here.
Heidi’s kind and fellow bloggers have said the following:

I read your book today! It came from Amazon yesterday, so this afternoon and evening I read and read and read. It was such a fun story and I love the characters. I hope you are already working on a second book! Becky

“Miss Delacourt is delightful! I really liked Sir Anthony. I was on his side the entire time. I read until I finished at 1 AM” Johnna

It is FANTASTIC! Seriously friends. Buy it. Ask your library to buy it. It is sweet, charming, funny. The house party from hell and the grandma from boot camp! Totally clean. Not even any blasphemy. Oh and did I mention I liked it? Jami

Next time I want to see a guest post by Lucinda or Lord Avery! Thanks for the mention of my book!

Ooooh, love that idea! Lord Avery would be hilarious, wouldn't he?

I am astonished! I could never have hoped, never dreamed, that Heidi's book would guest post! So happy to get to know her better!

Great idea, Heidi.

Nice to get to know the book a bit more! I plan on doing some reading this weekend. My goal is to finish it before the movie comes out? Maybe a Christmas release?

What a cute idea! What a clever clever way to tell the world about your book.

I'm so excited to read it. And then I can post about it. And thanks for mentioning my sobriet (or whatever word that was. I wouldn't know because I'm only an English teacher. Of the 21st century.) I'm still looking for something else to order with the book to get my free super saver shipping, but it's in my cart and I just finished my classes for the week so I can FOCUS now on YOU!

Verifier: hosilife. Hmmm. Can't think of anything meaningful with that one.

Kazzy, you crack me up! But I don't want to get in the way of L., as she is calling out to you to write her story, and all.

November 20, 2008 at 3:12 PM

Crash, now I am totally paranoid that I spelled it wrong or made it up. But my dad was an English teacher, too, and my husband teaches English to Spanish speaking kids and so I think I might be almost as great as the Dummy (but only through association--nutz!) And, then, yes, post about it, because you have only been blogging about half the time I have and are already about twice as popular so I could use the plug. :)

Eowyn and Luisa--you crack me up!

Why Miss Delacourt you put me in mind of my cousin, birds of a feather must flock together. It was fun hearing from a fictional character that has more character then some real life people I watch on my television. Hope to hear from you again.
Cousin Roxanne
