Things, they are a changin'

Posted by Heidi in ,

I’m a few weeks away from my one year blogoversary (yes, there will be a Very Special giveaway) and I’m feeling the need to reconnect with my, hmm, wait, let’s see . . .it starts with an “h”. . . oh, yes! Husband! Not to mention the trio of odious, little vermin (otherwise known as our children). In fact, today the Big Guy and I are going to have our third official “Friday mother-son date”. He has requested that I massage his scalp while he plays Mario Kart on the Wii. (Wheeee!)

More importantly (I’m sure you’ll agree how eminently important this is) I’m falling behind on my favorite shows to the point that Lost has me completely lost, Monk is a mystery, Chuck has me thrown and 24 has me obsessed 24 hours a day. But I’m psyched about Psyche, feeling super about Smallville and Ghost Whisperer always has me whispering sweet nothings in my husband’s ear.

In other words, I’m taking a blogcation next week to catch up on all things non-internet and to give the ancient, old noodle a breather. I’m very excited about the marvelous bloggists I have lined up to guest post (if you are a marvelous bloggist and I didn’t ask you to sub for me, it’s because you are either already doing Very Nice things for me in the near future or are too busy with your own Very Important Stuff for me to feel like I could ask.)

I’ll miss reading all of your blogs but since The Spouse and that odious trio will all be home for the week on spring break, there isn’t much chance I would be able to fully appreciate your words, anyhow.

This just in: It is 99.99% sure that I will be at the public library in Pleasant Grove, Utah at 10:30 A.M. Saturday the 25th of April. (With donuts.) (Unless I have a request for something better.) (For all I know, Pleasant Grove could be the cradle of some delicacy unheard of here in the provinces of California.) I hope to get to meet as many of you as possible!

I. Can’t. Wait!

35 wise, witty and wonderful comments

I think that bloggy breaks are much needed.

We need to chat about 24 sometime. I'm over it again.

And is this the meet and greet that you are planning or are you still planning something else? I will be to something!

April 10, 2009 at 10:16 AM

I'll check my flights...but I might be able to make that just to pop in and eat a donut...OH and give you a hug!!! lol!

April 10, 2009 at 10:19 AM

Enjoy your bloggy break. I hope the scalp rubbing doesn't last all that long, that doesn't sound too relaxing :)

See you soon, and Happy Easter!

April 10, 2009 at 10:28 AM

Kristina--there will also be something in the afternoon for a book group which you could certainly attend if you can't make the AM and you can always meet me where I am staying--just email me and we can work it out. Shelle--that would be so great! Any special kind you like? Heather--it sounds totally NOT relaxing to me, I'm sure my arm will break off at around the five minute mark. sigh . .

April 10, 2009 at 10:31 AM

Are you doing a signing at that library---or what? I wanna come meet you!

April 10, 2009 at 10:32 AM

Back in the days when a quarter would buy a candy bar and a small slurpee, my Grampa used to pay us a quarter for 10 minutes of scalp massage. Great work if you can get it....

Enjoy your time with your family. I hope your Spring Break is illness free, unlike ours.

April 10, 2009 at 10:45 AM

YEAH! Thanks for the date and time. Melinda and I are so coming! We chatted on the phone last night about it!

Hope you have a fab time on your blogcation! See ya when you get back!

April 10, 2009 at 10:51 AM

Oh, how I wish Oregon was in sync with the rest of the planet and that our spring break was scheduled for a normal time, like April, when we can really enjoy it! Ours was two weeks ago, and it rained the whole stinkin' week....

Have a great blogcation and happy anniversary!

Barb-sure, of course I'll sign books if anyone has one (I'll have some with me just in case) I really hope you can come! Pam--your grandpa was much more generous than my sister who got 1 minute of foot rub for one penny (that was a long time ago, though--inflation and all) Julie--you and Melinda--yay! Sue--I think March spring break is insane (unless Easter happens to be in March that year) but what do I know?

Enjoy your break! :)

April 10, 2009 at 12:05 PM

I'll miss you. . . and there is a small chance I will be able to come that weekend . . . up from no chance at all, so that's good, right?

April 10, 2009 at 12:07 PM

Congrats on the weekly date! Have a fun blogcation (I'll miss you!) and get all caught up on all things trio and husband!!! =]

April 10, 2009 at 12:51 PM

I'm pretending that I'm one of the totally busy with my own insanity tremendously awesome bloggers that you didn't dare ask - hope that's okay with everyone :)

I'm still checking my calendar - looks like Shelle's going to be too busy flying here and there to catch a ride with her!!!

April 10, 2009 at 12:57 PM

Have a great little vacation from your blog. It's nice to have balance! Your mother-son dates sounds like fun (surprisingly). Have a super week and a lovely Easter!

April 10, 2009 at 3:49 PM

Have a good break! Everyone needs a vacation every once in a while...

April 10, 2009 at 7:15 PM

So I MIGHT be able to come. Definitely depends on just how much sleep my daughter lets me get on the red eye, and how much my mother-in-law is offended when I tell her I'm not hanging with her on the day I come in. :)

April 10, 2009 at 8:02 PM

I will try and come --but I don't like to drive on the freeways to places I don't know how to get to. I am a freak-a-zoid that way. My children tell me I DO NOT BELONG ON THE HIGHWAYS. Hmmmmmm. Enjoy your week off -- we all need them to connect with ----well things such as husbands and kids.

April 10, 2009 at 8:21 PM

when are you going to come to the Denver public library? Have a fab vacay!

April 10, 2009 at 8:42 PM

Wahhhh! No Heidi posts and I don't get to play with all the little kiddies.

But I will look forward to the fun guest posts!

April 10, 2009 at 9:07 PM

Good for you for taking a little break! Enjoy your time off.

I wish I could be in Pleasant Grove on the 25th!

April 10, 2009 at 10:08 PM

We have Spring Break next week too, and I am sooo looking forward to it! Sounds like you have a great plan!

Pleasant Grove, huh? I will try and make that too. :)

April 10, 2009 at 10:43 PM

Breaks are needed. You have a good one.

Have a great week and weekend with your family.

Happy Easter Heidi.

April 11, 2009 at 8:39 AM

Good for you taking a week off, I'll miss you though!

Wendy - I'm coming from Kaysville (north of Salt Lake) if you're on the way, I'd be happy to swing by and pick you up so you don't have to drive. Let me know...valofthesouth at gmail dot com.

April 11, 2009 at 7:33 PM

I hope you have a fabulous restful week, or least a fabulous one. I'll miss your posts, but am sure I'll enjoy your guest bloggers! Happy Easter!

April 12, 2009 at 9:12 AM

Enjoy your break! :)

April 12, 2009 at 5:30 PM

I just realized a couple of days ago that my kids will be out on summer break soon. I wasn't blogging last summer. How in the world will I manage?
I hope you are having a good week off:)

April 13, 2009 at 6:35 AM

How on earth did you manage to get yourself to the Pleasant Grove library, of all places? I'll have to come and bring my loverly book to the envy of all else there. My kids will love the excuse to go to the library...I wonder what kind of a fine I've got right now. . .

April 13, 2009 at 8:12 AM

I've been so busy I haven't had time to read blogs in For-ev-er. I'm shirking some responsibilities to do so now. Enough is enough already. HA!

Enjoy your bogcation!

Have a great week!

April 14, 2009 at 10:22 AM

Have a great blogcation!!!

April 14, 2009 at 11:35 AM

So excited to see you next week! And (just so we don't get our wires crossed) the book group is at 7.

What a star-studded line-up of guest bloggers you have here. Totally enjoying this. But missing you.

See you soon! xo
