Everyone's A Winner Here At Dunhaven Place (but only three of you won a copy of Miss D)

Posted by Heidi in

It’s time to announce the winners of my book giveaway, Miss Delacourt Speaks Her Mind, and I’m so excited (and nervous that I gobbled up my entire day's allotment of Lindt brand milk chocolate truffles in one sitting!) One hundred and seventeen entries! How cool is that? BTW, sorry so late in the morning with this but first I had to do the school run, make my bed, do my exercises and wash the dishes from last night (I could make excuses and say b/c of my personal gimpiness I’m just too darn tired to do dishes after dinner, however, it would be more accurate to say “Who wants to do dishes when everyone else is frolicking about or playing video games or watching reruns of The Office?”) AND I had to type a long list of lurvely names, print it up, cut it into strips which were folded, TWICE, put them all into a hat (actually, it’s a snowman gift bag—so appropo) and give it a few dozen hefty shakes. Phew!! (I can attend to personal hygiene later, right?)

But before I draw names (because, I’m doing this in real time, people, real time, sort of like Jack Bauer but less hawt and way less bloody) I want to mention that the number of books being offered as a giveaway has gone from two to three. I know! I’m so generous (but really, Crash made me do it). So, I will be drawing three pieces of the afore-said twice folded paper.

But before I do that, I want to thank all my bloggy friends for making this book blog tour a success. I actually ran across a blog last night whose bloggist (not a word but I LIKE it!) was relatively new to the blogosphere. She proudly drew attention to her so-far-short list of blogs she stalks—and I was on it! Along with Crash and Sue and TAMN and a few others of my fave funny blogs of all time. Me! In company with them! It made me think that A) this blog tour might have helped make me a teensy bit blog-famous B) my ploy of using the following feature as a carrot in this contest worked out swell and C) I suspect she only added me to her stalk-list because she (mistakenly) thought she had to in order to get an extra entry for a free book which was a very lowering--but appropriate--thought, indeed (and hey, if you recognize yourself, I hope I didn’t get your panties in a bunch! Love you! And, might I add, you have good taste!)

Okay, I’m almost ready to start pulling names out of a hat, er, snowman bag but I want to give one last shout out to the book tour stops (and for the rest of you who put my book cover and link in your blog—bless you to pieces! You can’t imagine what it has been like to be surfing my fave blogs and seeing Miss D in so many of them! What a treat! Best Christmas ever! Thank you so much!) Drumroll please for . . . .

Christine of The Power of Housewife Word of Mouth

Becky of Scripture Mom

Kazzy of Kazzy’s Ponderings

Jami of Superfluous Miscellany

Crash/Debbie of Crash Test Dummies Diaries

Randi of Is It Just Me?

Ladies, thank you so much, you don’t know what it means to me! You all did a fantastic job and I loved it! Love you!

Okay, here I go . . . (putting my hand into the hat) and we have . . (I’m going to tell you the honest to goodness first thought that crosses my mind) . . . Sue Q--way to go, Sue Q, who entered at the very last possible second! Just goes to show being the early bird doesn't always catch the worm. Okay, the next one is . . .Christine of The Power Of Housewife Word of Mouth--well, she DID get quite a few entries what with her inteviewing me and clicking the following button and linking to me, etc. etc. etc. Way to be, Christine! Okay, here I go for the third and last time . . . .T--I have no idea who you are T, I suspect after you leave me your address at write2me@heidiashworth.com, you will run for the hills and I will never see you again, but hey, glad you won! Hope you like the book!

So happy they won! But so sad the rest of you didn’t! If you still want a free book, hot foot it over to ldspublisher, a wonderful site that features three book giveaways every single month. This month Miss D is one of them (a little detail I forgot about when I started my own contest—sorry lds publisher!) Barring that, Miss Delacourt is on sale right now at both Amazon.com and Barnes&Noble.com for wayyyy cheaper than its cover price of $24.98. They have copies in stock, even though they claim it isn’t “out” yet (and even if they claim some are "used" which can be nothing but an unaccountable lie!)—so they can ship in time for Christmas if warming your tootsies by the fire with a good book is your holiday heart’s desire.

Tomorrow, it’s back to the usual programming . . . I promise (read: try--which is to say, possibly unsuccessfully which should be read as: a venture doomed from the outset) to keep it short. (And did I say thank you?!??!?!)

SO glad I already have my very own copy...

YAY! Fun, exciting post. T is awesome. You will love her to death. I'm going to put her on my blogroll today.

And YAY, so happy to stand on someone's blogroll with you and Tamners. Who is it? Do tell, so I can go tell her I love her.

December 10, 2008 at 11:47 AM

Congrats to the winners!

(though I'm secretly bitter) :)

December 10, 2008 at 12:00 PM

How exciting! I loved the real time pulling names out of the snowman bag.

December 10, 2008 at 12:02 PM

Posting in real time! How nerve racking that must be. I don't know that I could ever be brave enough to do that.

Thanks again for the shout out and link--it was fun being a part of your blog tour. And I am not even being facetious (or facteca as the word verification shows).

December 10, 2008 at 12:09 PM

Luisa, you are so sweet! Crash, I emailed you with the (secret) info, Ah, Alyson, you're just bitter because you're still sick--so sorry! Erin--thank you, I had fun doing it but, as Becky says, it WAS nerve-wracking, which is why I had to eat all that chocolate first! Love the word verifier quip, Becky!

congrats ladies!

December 10, 2008 at 12:16 PM

Not really bitter. Just trying to be a dork. And, yes, all my bitterness comes from the sinus headache treatening to explode my skull. Sorry, was that too graphic?

I hope your wonderful novel becomes the hit of the holiday season, my friend!

December 10, 2008 at 12:18 PM

Good job, Heidi!

December 10, 2008 at 12:21 PM

YAY to the winners - is it wrong that my finger slipped and I almost typed sinners?
How embarrassing that would have been!
No Seriously, congratulations to them! I'm glad you had fun on your bloggy tour.
Can't wait to get my hands on your book!

December 10, 2008 at 12:24 PM

Well, I'll have to check it out at a book store probably a week or two after the release date. (Or I could hint to my husband to order it for me for Christmas.) Either way, I'm not getting caught up in a store anytime soon for obvious reasons!

While I wait I'll be back to the library for more awesome books on the booklist a librarian made me!

Congrats to the book winners! Yay you! =P

December 10, 2008 at 12:32 PM

:( I'm sad I didn't win, but *sniff* I'll *sniff* get over it.

And I DID score a free massage. Kinda. I traded family pictures for a massage with a girl I met in blogland.
Nice, huh.

December 10, 2008 at 1:27 PM

Congratulations on the publishing of your book.

I think that if you have a book published that you definitely ARE famous, blog or not.

I'm going to go look at your book on Amazon. :)

December 10, 2008 at 2:21 PM

PS, I just requested your book from my library. It said 4 out of 5 copies were out, which means they must have it already.

:)

December 10, 2008 at 2:26 PM

Yay, Heidi, how clever of you! It must be your name . . .

I won?

I Won??!!

I WON, I WON, I WON!!!! I WINNED IT!! And I NEVER win anything!!!

Wow, I'm so excited.... I'm absolutely thrilled that there will be at least one present under the tree that I didn't have to buy for myself!! And coming in at the nick of time....well, the stars were in alignment for me today, I guess! ('Bout time, too -- this has been a really wacked out week!)

December 10, 2008 at 4:15 PM

It's $30 in Canada. =(

I shall pout.

But buy it anyway.

December 10, 2008 at 4:18 PM

Sue Q-I'm thrilled for you! I know just how it is to buy all your own gifts . . .but you need to email me with your address or, sadly, it will never get to you,
write2me@heidiashworth.com
Kim--that just makes me nauseaus. The pressure to be $30 worth of entertaining! Ack! $25 is bad enough. Don't buy it! Do. Not. Do. It!

December 10, 2008 at 4:35 PM

Congratulations you three! While I am terribly depressed that it wasn't me, I can find a little modicum of happiness for the winners. :)

December 10, 2008 at 4:37 PM

Hey Heidi, thanks for the input on good books. Maybe I'll be able to talk my sweety into getting me a book. Over the summer he surprised me with the "Twilight" series, he is such a sweetheart.

I'm excited to support a new author.

I think that it went over my head about your book being only online. Anyway, have an awesome day! =)

December 10, 2008 at 4:55 PM

Heidi, you're a good girl. I didn't enter because I have one ordered, and since I don't wear panties, I thought I'd better let the pantied wearers have the fun. Hee Hee.

You are always having lots of fun. Maerry Chrstmas.

chophin.........chophin on the yule tide bit.

December 10, 2008 at 5:10 PM

Retry that spelling.....Merry Christmas.

rostr......I'm on the roster for the roaster

December 10, 2008 at 5:12 PM

Arlon you crack me up! And, you make me misty eyed to think you actually bought my book--what a guy! Amanda--you are kind of new to my blog so all is forgiven, ;)Abra, I forgot to say earlier how witty and clever your comment was--gotta love it! Alyson, you couldn't be a dork if you tried, Lara, no need to be depressed! Go to ldspublisher's blog and try to win one there--or one of the other great books featured this month, Stacey, Roy boy and Heather--thanks for the support. This whole thing was such a blast. Write a book and get it published and pay, er, ask people to say nice things about it--I highly recommend it!

December 10, 2008 at 5:15 PM

So glad the book tour went well. I was so glad to be a part of promoting something so deserving. It felt good.

Congrats to the winners. Cancel any plans you have for the afternoon you receive the book and just get under a blanket and read~

December 10, 2008 at 5:29 PM

I'm jumping up and down... well, sort of just bouncing up and down... but hey, it still counts right!

No worries that I will be running for the hills... I've got a bum ankle, oh, and I like hanging out reading all the goods!

(this is me blushing that crash said such nice things - maybe I'm not just a blog stalker after all?)

December 10, 2008 at 5:51 PM

Go back to my last post, please, I added a picture.

December 10, 2008 at 5:57 PM

Kazzy, as I have said before, too bad you are married and I am married and we are both into men. Sorta. (LOVE you!) T--yes, you won, congrats! Arlon--love that picture--everyone go check out the Old Boat Guy's latest post!

December 10, 2008 at 7:25 PM

I'm so terribly upset for not winning, but I still love you and your blog and will visit as often as possible to get more tidbits on your life. Also- I heart Lindt chocolates!!!

December 10, 2008 at 9:22 PM

Ack! My last comment didn't come out right! Yikes! Now I'm not going to sleep tonight . . .

December 10, 2008 at 9:49 PM

Know what? I love how you comment back to everyone...
Really.
I actually come back here to see what you've said next.
I love love love it.
I try,
I don't always do it.
So just so you know, I do come back to see if you replied to me... plus it makes me wittier is that a word? It must be because it wasn't underlined in red...
BTW your verifier said adjurs... which I'm going to take as adieu for tonight.
Je t'aime!

December 10, 2008 at 9:56 PM

But Heidi!! You said you hoped it was ME! I sort of took that as a hint that it would BE me. What happened. This is really a shock and I'll need a few days to get over it.

Oh, never mind! I just realized I already AM over it, sort of. Congrats to the winners!! I'll be buying mine next time I'm in the States!

December 10, 2008 at 10:23 PM

Congrats to the winners (I'm trying to be a good sport when really I'm barely keeping myself together! *sniff sniff* This contest had me checking your blog everyday and laughing so I guess in the end I won because I found a great new place to stalk full of humor and wit). Thanks for the fun and good luck with Miss D! I just need to get myself a copy and share with Youngblood4Ever!

December 11, 2008 at 7:13 AM

Yay for the winners!!
I guess I'll just have to buy from Amazon like the other 4,000 non winners.
But yay for new good books to read!

December 11, 2008 at 10:19 AM

Well I suppose I must actually PAY for my own book now. *sigh*
But I still will. Cuz I'm just far too curious now not to read it. I MUST.
Plus I love reading anyway:)

December 11, 2008 at 10:53 AM

Abra, I love how you love that I comment back to everyone and that you come back and read it--love you! Lisa, I didn't lie when I said I hoped you would win because, POLAND! Way to expensive to buy my book there (and I want you to read it--I respect your opinion) Sherbugs, yes, share with youngblood, that makes me feel better! Randi and Barb, I'm so sorry! I hate that it costs so much! (but thanks for buying it anyway--or you can check it out of the library or ask that they buy one!)
